MEET YOUR DIRECTORS

Trustee Kris McMoyle headed the committee that planned the 2000 National Library Week observance.

What is your term on the board?
I am serving my second term. I was first appointed in 1998 and reappointed in 2000 to serve until 2002.

By which councilman were you appointed?
Mayor Tommy Dement

What are you currently reading?
Ghost Moon
by Karen Robards

What books do you recommend?
Boundaries
by Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. This book was published in 1992, but the advice still holds true today!

What web site do you recommend?
I love e-bay! I rarely make purchases, but I like to see what is selling and the prices for which things sell.

What do you do in life beside serve on the Library board?
I am director of managed care for ETMC Jacksonville. This means I work for the hospital, and particularly with the physicians' offices and area employers, to ensure that the hospital and physicians are "in-network" providers for the insurance plan offered by employers in our area.

When an employer gives me a provider directory, I make it my goal for our hospital and your hometown physician to appear in that directory. I accom- plish this by contracting with the various managed care providers (insurance companies) in the Jacksonville PHO.

This allows all of your healthcare needs to be met in your own city, allowing you to receive the optium benefits your plan allows by remaining "in-network" for your care.

My husband Billy and I have one daughter, Randi Rae. As a family, we enjoy golf and swimming. We are active members of the First Baptist Church.

In addition to the Library board, I serve on the executive board of the Chamber of Commerce and the board of directors of Jacksonville Christian School. I'm an officer in my Beta Sigma Phi chapter and assist the Awanna Club at my church. In the summer I assist with the water aerobics program offered by ETMC for seniors. I work on fundraisers for the Nan Travis Foundation, and I'm a licensed insurance agent.

Why do you serve on the Library board?
At first, I served because I was appointed. Today, I serve because it is a real joy! With the introduction of computer technology, this has to be the most exciting time to be involved with the Library.

What will our Library look like in 20 years? One day, I can tell my grandchildren that I served on the Library board in the last century, and we used to have to look everything up on something called "card catalogues"! (Just think, all you collectors out there, the next antique will be the card catalogue!)

Because of the number of books and computers available to our citizens, our Library is equal to, or greater than, any library in any big city.

What is your "dream wish" for the Library?
My dream wish is a two-fold wish for the Library itself and for the Vanishing Texana Museum. I wish the Museum had a place of its own. It has so many wonderful items to display. I feel that, if it had a place of its own, it could accept even more items for display, and the Library would then have more room to expand.

Oh, did I mention that, if the Library could expand, I feel sure new carpet would be a must!
