What are you currently reading?
The Kennedy Women by Laurence Leamer and The Greatest Generation Speaks by Tom Brokaw. Various books of poetry - past collections, Sandburg, Frost, and Angelou
What book do you recommend?
Books I've liked, from Nancy Drew on - my favorite? Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, I think - but I read biographies and histories. Mostly I read non-fiction. At present, I'm enjoying Tom Brokaw's books.
What do you do in life beside serve on the library board?
Teach public speaking part-time at LMC. I belong to study clubs, enjoy going to concerts in Tyler and plays in Dallas. I enjoy some TV - mysteries, documentaries, football games. A favorite is Biography on A&E. And I read quite a bit!
What web site do you recommend?
I have a computer, but I'll never wear it out - I don't use it enough!
Why do you serve on the library board?
I think people should read to keep up with where our world is and where it is going. I believe a public library is essential because the materials and books are available for everyone.
What is your "dream wish" for the library?
A building with twice - or ample - space for a wide collection of books and magazines, for conversation/discussion areas - and a number of study areas that aren't, perhaps, a library's concern.
I wish everyone would use it!

UTILIZE YOUR LIBRARY!
During Black History Month, get acquainted with African-American writers of fiction. For example, the library has books by Walter Mosley and Zora Neale Hurston. For lighter reading, the Arabesque romance series is available in paperback.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT:
The library maintains an index of obituaries published in the Jacksonville Daily Progress. After you locate the publication date, you can use the microfilm of Progress issues to ascertain a person's date of death.
