DUES-EXCUSED
In appreciation for ongoing work, the Friends directors have voted to consider members of the Library staff as individual members exempt from dues during the period of their employment at the Library.
As a gesture of thanks to the high school students who will help with the book sale, the same privileges will be extended to these young persons for the fiscal year.
PREPARATIONS GO FORWARD FOR SALE
During February you sorted books and magazines to donate to the Friends sale to be held Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25, during the regular hours Library hours.
Now it is time to bring your items to the Library. Sorting and pricing will begin on Monday, March 20, in the auditorium.
Help is needed in sorting, pricing, picking up books from persons unable to make delivery, working during the sale days, or cleaning up on Sunday afternoon.
To support the sale in any of these ways, please call one of the sale chairpersons: Dona Ralston at 586-4580, or Claudine Mellinger at 586-1039.
Thanks: You're a True Friend!

March 2, the birthday of Theodore Geisel, a/k/a "Dr. Seuss," is America's "Read to Kids" day to celebrate one-on-one reading.
Readers at the Library can wear a Dr. Seuss hat donated to the children's section by Friends' member Ruby Lee Stevens.
If you can't read at the Library or read to a child who's related to you or a child in your neighborhood, there are group opportunities within the community.
For example, Friends member Dr. Wayne Ralston regularly volunteers at East Side as a reader. Any of the elementary schools would welcome your time as a reader, especially in a one-on-one situation.
If you can read to the dual language classes in Spanish, you are especially valuable! (Note: you do not have to be conversationally fluent in Spanish - simply familiar with the language - to understand and read K- and first-grade picture books.)
Every Wednesday morning in the Library, children's librarian Jo Jones reads to the pre-schoolers at 10:30 a.m. Guest readers are welcome. If you can spare a half hour on any Wednesday morning, call Jo at the Library, 586-7664.
