FRIENDS PURCHASES ROLL CUTTER RACK

On the recommendation of the Library director, Friends purchased a horizontal roll cutter rack that will hold six rolls of heavy poster paper. On casters, it can be rolled to the spot in the Library where the children’s librarian, or any staff member who needs the materials, is working. When not in use, it will be a compact storage area for the rolls.

Peggy Jo Jones, the children’s librarian, wrote:

Dear Friends of the Library,

A special thank you for the mobile rolled paper dispenser. This is a great addition to the Library. You do so many wonderful things for us. I can’t wait for you to come to the Library so I can thank you in person.

Sincerely,
Peggy Jo Jones
Children’s Librarian

ANN CLAMPITT LEAVES STAFF FOR HOME

After five years, Ann Clampitt has decided to end her commute between her home in Jefferson and her work in Jacksonville. The staff and patrons of the Library wish her well. David Emprimo will take over Ann’s duties.

Friends is delighted to welcome many new members and thanks each for his or her support of the Library. A list of new members, as of publication, is on the next page. If you know of others who wish to join, please encourage them to do so. If you are a 2000 member who has not renewed your patron, family, or individual membership, please do so now with a check for $25, $10, or $5.

Friends thanks Claudine Mellinger for agreeing to serve another term as a director. This enables Friends to comply with the state’s requirement for a minimum of three directors for a non-profit corporation. A reminder: the by-laws of Friends authorize the existing directors to add more directors. Anyone interested in serving on the board of Friends need only express interest to a current director: Barbara Greig, Claudine Mellinger, or Frances Whiteside.

The bylaws further authorize the directors to elect the officers. The 2000 officers have been re-elected for 2001.

The annual book sale has been set for Saturday, March 31, with a preview for members of Friends on Friday, March 30. Help is needed during the preceding Monday through Thursday to set up the books and on Sunday afternoon, April 1, to pack away unsold books. If you can help at any time, please call Frances Whiteside at 589-8253.

Friends is pleased that members of the National Honor Society at JHS have committed to assisting with the sale again this year. The sale could not be held without the help of these young men and women.
