SALE OPEN EARLY TO MEMBERS

WAYS YOU CAN HELP ENSURE A SUCCESSFUL BOOK SALE

Tell your friends about the sale.
Invite them to join Friends at the door on Friday evening, March 30.
Post the enclosed flyer where you work or in another public place.
Donate re-saleable books, videos, or CDS. Please don't bring items such as computer manuals and textbooks that are so out of date as to be useless.
Come to the library the week before the sale, March 26-30, to help unpack books and put them on tables. Help is needed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.
Help staff the sale on Friday, March 30, when the doors will be open to members from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Help staff the sale on Saturday, March 31, when doors will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Come to the library on Sunday after- noon, April 1, to pack up unsold merchandise for recycling or discard.
If you want to claim unsold items for a project you support, come to the Library on Sunday afternoon, April 1, to box these items and take them away.

Members of Friends are invited to visit the annual book sale between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30, to make your selections. You may present your membership card or this newsletter as proof of your membership.

Memberships will be available at the door for first-time members. Anyone holding a Library card is eligible for Friends membership.

The sale will be open to the public on Saturday, March 31, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

To volunteer to work on the sale, please call Frances Whiteside at 589-8253.

MARY MARSH JOINS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Mary Marsh has accepted the invitation to members to join the Friends' board of directors. Friends thanks her for this support! Mary's term will run from March 1, 2001, to December 31, 2002.

Mary is a former tutor for the Jacksonville Literacy Council and supports the cause of literacy. She especially enjoys Reader's Digest. "Everything comes to a halt when the Reader's Digest arrives," she says. See the opposite page for a literacy success story in the March 2001 issue that Mary recommends as inspiring reading.
